The Knox County Sheriff's Office says it's already seeing positive results in its push for a safer holiday season.
The Safer Holidays Task Force has already arrested 37 people on a variety of charges, including shoplifting, traffic violations and drug charges. The sheriff's office has also recovered nearly $10,000 in stolen merchandise.
The Knox County Sheriff's Office and retailers started the program last Wednesday. It's meant to combat retail theft, forgery, fraud and other crimes.
Expect to see more deputies patrolling shopping areas during the holiday season.
