Another East Tennessee town is kicking off the Christmas season.
Christmas time in Dandridge began on Thursday with the annual Christmas tree lighting and opening ceremonies. Families got into the spirit of the season with horse-drawn carriage rides, a live nativity scene and a photo-op with Santa.
This marks the 24th year for the celebration, and although each new year brings excitement to the community, locals say they still keep in mind the reason for the season.
"Our Baptist, our Presbyterian, our Methodist brothers and sisters came together to make this an event to celebrate what Christmas is all about, that Jesus Christ has been born and we celebrate that in this way," said Pastor Ray Petty.
