Tales about life in Appalachia from some of our area's best known storytellers was the scene at the Museum of Appalachia Friday as Bill Landry, Sam Venable, Elizabeth Rose and Jim Claborn presented their holiday version of the Talk is Cheap tour.

All four have accumulated hundreds of stories about the people and places that make up our region's culture, and Friday's audience heard a big sample of them.

So many years after the Heartland Series began telling their stories, Producer Steve Dean says East Tennessee still wants to listen.

"The turnout has been really encouraging for us; we sold out within a matter of days. I think there's an audience for this material still. It's an important part of who we are," he said.

You can hear some of those stories in a couple of weeks on Channel 10 in the next Heartland series special. It will air on December 15 at 7 o'clock.
