Knox County Sheriff's Office arrested a man after he allegedly kidnapped his estranged wife Sunday.

Deputies said Elgin Matthew Weaver, 33, of Knoxville is accused of kidnapping his wife Jennifer at the Valley Inn Motel on Raccoon Valley Road.

Weaver threatened to shoot her Saturday, while she was at a friend's home, if she did not get into the car with him. The 33-year-old then stole her purse and drove off.

On Sunday Weaver told her if she talked to him, she could have her purse back. When Jennifer Weaver reached inside to get the purse, deputies said her husband grabbed her, pulled her into the car and drove away. Investigators said he then tried to run over a friend of his wife as well.

After approximately two and a half hours later, a detective found Jennifer Weaver unharmed in Anderson County. Shortly afterwards, Knox County deputies found Weaver inside his vehicle at the Heiskell Market on Heiskell Road and arrested him.

Weaver has been charged with vehicle burglary, aggravated assault and kidnapping. He is being held on a $90,000 bond.
