The young boy injured in a Christmas Parade in Jamestown Saturday remains in the hospital.

4 year-old James Sparks was badly injured during the event.  He is currently in stable condition in the children's Intensive Care Unit at UT Medical Center.

"He has skull fractures on the left side and back of his head and he is just bruised and scratched up really bad," said the boy's mom, Dolly Sparks.

James Sparks was riding on the Fentress County Library float.  A library spokesperson said sparks jumped up and fell off.

The boy's mom considers the event a freak accident.  She is thankful her son is quickly recovering and grateful for the support from people and churches in Fentress County.

The 4 year-old may go home by the end of the week.
