Numbers released Tuesday showed law enforcement agencies confiscated more than $1.5 billion worth of marijuana this year in Appalachia.

Authorities said they found more than 750,000 plants this year. One-fifth of those plants were found in Tennessee.

Experts said Tennessee, Virginia and Kentucky have a near-perfect climate for marijuana cultivation and remote forests, which help growers camouflage their crops.
