A hospital in Middle Tennessee has temporarily barred children under the age of 16 from visiting the hospital.
The Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville says children in that age group are a main reason why the flu is spreading. They're also asking people with flu-like symptoms not to visit the hospital for the safety of other patients.
The AP reports that this year Tennessee has seen the earliest start to the flu season since 2003.
State officials are encouraging everyone to get their flu shots.
