A tractor trailer struck a highway sign on Interstate 40 Friday evening, causing it to fall over. It happened at about 4 o'clock in the eastbound lanes at Pellissippi Parkway.
TDOT crews had to block the off-ramp to clean up the debris. That caused a major traffic backup.
Westbound traffic was not affected.
