Church Street United Methodist Church sent people back more than 2,000 years ago to experience the Christmas Story first-hand.
The church transformed into the tiny village of Bethlehem for the "Walk Through Bethlehem" event Sunday. This village included the famous inn, stable where Jesus was born and shops from the time period. Church leader Sue Isbell said the event was their way to give back to the community.
"We have always made it a free event because we feel like it is a unique gift we can give back to the community to help promote and remember the true meaning of the season," said Isbell.
Nearly 4,000 people came out to the event last year. Church leaders said they were hoping for another good turn out this year. The church began planning for "Walk Through Bethlehem" three months ago, and the setup took nearly a week to complete.
