In the aftermath of the Connecticut school shootings Vice President Joe Biden will spearhead the administration's efforts to come up with policies to address gun violence.
President Obama will make an announcement later today about the White House's plans moving forward.
The president has turned to Biden in the past to coordinate such high profile policy initiatives.
Biden's role will be to lead government agencies to come up with new policies regarding gun violence.
The move follows last Friday's massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School where 20 children and six women were killed.
