While work may be winding down for many of you with Christmas approaching, it's the busiest time of year at the post office.
The one near Cedar Bluff was flooded all day long with people trying to get last minute items into the mail.
Thursday marks the busiest day the postal service will face all year. It sees up to 75 percent more mail this week, and up to 80 million packages total nationwide around this time.
"Everybody tries to time it to where it gets there right at Christmas, so it makes it a little more difficult. The earlier you can mail, the better," said USPS Manager David McGill.
Unfortunately McGill says it usually takes packages seven to 10 days to reach their destination, so the deadline to guarantee it reaches your loved one by Christmas has passed.
