Belk is getting in the giving spirit by helping the United Way reach its 2012 campaign goal.
Friday morning at West Town Mall, Belk officials donated $5,000 to the United Way of Greater Knoxville. That money will go toward several community groups that help more than 100,000 Knox County residents.
United Way officials say the $5,000 donation is something they really need and something that will help some improve their quality of life this year.
"The campaign for 2012 started in August this year, and we are still underway and it should go into 2013 just a little bit. We're trying to raise $12 million and I think this morning we were at 92 percent of that goal, so this contribution from Belk and their associates this morning will make a big difference," said Ben Landers, United Way of Greater Knoxville President.
