A locally owned radio group that runs Merle FM has filed a lawsuit against the owner of 100.3 WNOX over the sale of the radio station.

On Thursday, the Milwaukee-based Journal Broadcasting announced it bought 100.3 WNOX from owner Johnny Pirkle. It's the fourth radio station Journal Broadcasting owns in Knoxville, along with Q93, Star 102.1 and Hot 104.5. The FCC still must approve the deal.

Shortly after the announcement, the owner of M&M Broadcasting filed a lawsuit against Pirkle.

The company says it had a deal to buy 100.3, but in the final days, M&M Broadcasting says Journal Broadcasting intervened and instead got the deal.
