The Karns Fire Department is helping local kids have a brighter Christmas through its "Santa's Sleigh Toy Drive."

Firefighters handed out bags and boxes full of toys for nearly 140 kids Saturday afternoon in the Karns community.

The Karns Fire Department has organized this drive from more than 30 years.

Karns Fire Department spokesperson Kelley Grabill said they look forward to participating every year.

"Our firefighters, our chiefs, and deputy chiefs, this is a way to reach out in the community and show them that times change and we still love you," said Grabill. "We still love your children and we want to reach out to this community and hug this community because it's a wonderful community."

Over the years this effort has grew significant. Thirty years ago, the fire department helped 25 kids. This year it reached 139 children.
