Packed parking lots, deep discounts, and crazy crowds-- West Town Mall looked the same the day after Christmas as it did in the weeks leading up to it.
Shoppers returning items and spending gift cards and Christmas money packed the mall on December 26th.
For CM Games, the day has proven to be as important as the biggest shopping day of the year.
"I'd say we'll be in the same ballpark as Black Friday. We're hoping. That's what we're pushing for at least," said manager Shaun Jackson.
But managers say, Wednesday's sales are icing on the cake for this holiday season.
"We've really had a good year," he said.
Not everyone says the traffic translates to sales. At Francescas, they've seen more people in their store, but less spending than in the past.
"It seems like people are saving their money better. We've also noticed they've been using more cash and debit cards and not as many credit cards," said Manager Meredith Grimes.
Francesas is working to drive their sales numbers up this week with discounts. They've marked down items as much as 60 percent.
"We want everyone to come in here, see what we're all about, so they'll continue to come back when we're coming out of our clearance sale," Grimes said.
So far, it's working.
"It just started today [Wednesday] but we've been slammed in here. And so we're really happy about that and everyone's really excited about all of our sales going on," she said.
Knoxville malls extended their hours to give shoppers every opportunity to spend their Christmas money.
Stores return to regular hours Thursday: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
