Worker who was electrocuted on KUB job site has been identified

Knoxville Police have identified the worker who was killed as Michael Tallent, 27, of Powell.  Tallent died from injuries while he was being treated at UT Medical Center.

Knoxville Police said a KUB contract worker was killed by a high voltage electric shock on a construction site shortly after noon Monday.

W&O Construction Company, Inc. employee was working at KUB Kuwahee Wastewater Treatment Plant when the incident occurred. Knoxville Fire Department said it appears the workers were trying to lift a piece of metal with a crane, when something hit the power lines. Investigators are still working to figure out what exactly hit the line.

Medical Staff pronounced the employee dead at UT Medical Center on Monday. Authorities have not released the man's name.

In a statement, KUB said, "KUB employees send their thoughts and prayers to the W&O employee and his family."

The Tennessee Occupational Health and Safety Administration will investigate the incident.
