The University of Tennessee has rolled out a new marketing campaign to give Vols' football fans a taste of what's to come next season.
The Vols started their "Rise to the Top" campaign at the end of December. The school has put up billboards on local roads with the likeness of new head football coach Butch Jones. One such sign currently sits off Alcoa Highway in South Knoxville.
It also unveiled a new website where fans can watch videos of Jones as he coaches his team in the off-season.
"Obviously, there's a lot of energy and excitement surrounding our new head football coach," said UT Athletic Department Spokesman Jimmy Stanton. "So, what we wanted to do was introduce him to our fans."
Shane Rhyne, of Ackermann Public Relations and Marketing, said he thought UT's videos did a good job of appealing to fans' emotional instincts. He said it is important UT engage its fans, something he believes Jones has already done a good job of on Twitter.
"This is probably the most organized effort I've seen as far a coach and all of the staff," he said. "I mean they're all out there, it's a complete blitz."
UT told 10News it plans to put up even more "Rise to the Top" billboards in the near future.
