TDOT will continue to display the number of Tennessee roadway fatalities on highway signs in the new year.
The final number of roadway fatalities in 2012 was 1,013. TDOT began displaying the numbers in April to raise awareness after seeing a sharp increase in deadly accidents.
In 2013, TDOT will put those statistics on the signs on a weekly basis instead of every day. TDOT will also continue to run safety messages targeted at specific issues like texting while driving, drowsy driving and driving under the influence.
