For the first time in decades, Big Orange will not be represented during the President's inauguration.
UT's Pride of the Southland Marching Band has marched in the last 12 inaugural parades.
But when President Obama is inaugurated for his second term later this month, Rocky Top won't ring out on Pennsylvania Avenue.
From the start, the Obama administration has planned on a scaled back celebration. According to the Inaugural Committee, more than 2800 bands applied to participate, which is an increase over previous years.
In a statement, the committee said "Given the smaller parade there simply was not space to accommodate every worthy group."
President Obama's second inauguration is January 21.
