A new market woman is suing Jefferson County over the approval of plans to build a cadaver research site adjacent to her property.
Doris Ligon is suing the county and the board of zoning appeals.
She argues that the board of zoning appeals failed to follow its own zoning resolutions when it approved the plan in a December meeting, making its decision illegal. Ligon is asking for the decision to be declared null and void.
Carson-Newman College wants to add the cadaver site as part of a new forensics program.
Nearby residents have expressed concerns about the environmental impact, but the school maintains the site will be safe for all.
