After almost two years of work, a new school is coming to Blount County.

Clayton Homes and the Innovative Education Partnership have joined to create the Clayton-Bradley STEM Academy.

The STEM academy will be a tuition-based private school located on Clayton Homes property just off Pellissippi Parkway. A small enrollment will allow the school to purchase state of the art learning tools for their students, such as iPads.

The school was designed to give Blount County parents another choice for their children's education.

"Innovation should be very fun and it will be. I think that parents will enjoy being there and students will feel that kinship culture, that family culture because it is a small school being able to try new things, but it's all based on what we know works for children," said Sarah Herron.

Back in 2011, the group now known as Innovative Education Partnership tried to bring a charter school to Blount County, but their application was twice denied.

The Clayton-Bradley STEM Academy is set to open this July. STEM schools focus on science, technology, engineering, and math.
