The public is invited to a meeting Tuesday night to discuss the proposal to turn a large parcel of land in Jefferson County into a megasite, primed to attract a major automotive manufacturer and thousands of new jobs.
The site is located near the intersection of I-40 and I-81. Jefferson County leaders hope to acquire the land, prepare it for development, then work with a firm to get it certified as a megasite.
The meeting will be from 5-7 p.m. at the Great Smoky Mountain Expo Center in White Pine.
