At the National Weather System in Morristown, they were watching the changing weather situation closely on Thursday.

About 3 inches of snow had fallen there, as of 10 pm.

It was a tricky forecast, trying to determine exactly when and where the cold air would collide with the moisture to create heavy, wet snow.

Every hour, a meteorologist goes outside to measure the snowfall amounts for the official record.

You can help them by logging on to this website, where a video will show you the proper way to measure snowfall.  Then, you can submit it for the official record.  You can also get rain gauges for your home to measure and report it to the National Weather Service.
