Oak Ridge football coach Scott Blade has resigned to take a job near his family in middle Tennessee.
Blade will take over as head coach at Independence High School in the Nashville suburb of Franklin. He had coached at Nashville's Hillsboro High before taking the Oak Ridge job.
"It's been a rough day, I'm not gonna lie to you," Blade told WBIR Sports.
"I had a wonderfult time and a wonderful run here," said Blade. "I enjoyed the city and I enjoyed my time here. I had a wonderful relationship with the Oak Ridge administration and the people."
"We were in the process of building something. But it was the right time to go back."
Blade's parents live in middle Tennessee and his wife Shari had a job offer to return to work in that area.
"The kids want to be near grandma and grandpa and their cousins," Blade added. "The twins are getting ready for high school and I didn't want to be moving around once they did that."
"It was the right time to go back if it was going to happen and it was good timing for me that their was an opening."
Blade was 35-15 in his four seasons with the Wildcats and admits it is difficult to leave the school.
"The timing is never right, it's never good," said Blade. "Oak Ridge will find a great coach."
