One of two Roane County brothers with a long history of fighting law enforcement has pleaded not guilty to gun charges.
Leon Houston was in federal court Monday. He's charged with possession of a gun while using illegal drugs. His brother, Rocky Houston, is charged with felony possession of a firearm.
Federal agents installed a camera on a utility pole beside the Houstons' property. Prosecutors say the camera caught Rocky Houston with guns. He is a convicted felon and cannot have a gun.
Leon Houston is allowed to have guns, but prosecutors say he admitted to agents that he was smoking marijuana. Having a gun while using illegal drugs is a crime.
In court Thursday, a judge also appointed Leon a lawyer. His trial date is set for March.
As for Rocky, he has refused to proceed with his hearing unless the judge steps down.
Both brothers face up to 10 years in prison.
