Knoxville Utilities Board said it expects all of its customers' electricity to
be restored by Sunday morning.
Crews have been working nonstop since the winter
storm hit the area late Thursday afternoon.
KUB customers still without power are in areas that are difficult for crews
to reach. For example, a tree trimming company had to cut a path through a
wooded area off Babelay Road so KUB workers could reach downed power lines and a
broken utility pole Saturday afternoon.
KUB President and CEO Mintha Roach said in a news release, "I am very
proud of the job our crews have done and how other employees have pitched
Roach also said, "Many customers have thanked the crews for
their hard work - and have shown concern for their safety. On behalf of KUB and
all employees, I want to thank customers for their patience and support."
