People gathered for a "Night with the Arts" at Knoxville College, which honored Martin Luther King, Jr. Sunday evening.
Singers, dancers and artwork celebrated the life and legacy left by the civil rights defender. A special presentation remembered local hero Sarah Moore Greene as well.
Chair of the MLK Commemorative Commission Renee Kesler said she hopes this event would inspire other to carry the torch for inclusion and equality.
"The celebration of the arts is really a way to encourage, to energize, and not just tell the story of the struggle, but to also affirm and appreciate all those who came before us," said Kesler.
The celebration continues into Monday evening, ending with a free concert in the Tennessee Theatre at 6:00 p.m.
