Back Yard Burgers Inc. has named David McDougall as its new chief executive officer, the Nashville-based burger chain announced Wednesday.
McDougall previously was president of FranIntel Inc., a financial and operations services firm in Atlanta that focused on emerging to midsized franchisors.
The change is part of the chain's emergence from a pre-arranged Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization.
"As the next chapter unfolds for the company with our emergence from restructuring and our fresh new start, we feel that Dave's seasoned leadership will be invaluable in returning the Back Yard brand to one of prominence," said Jim Phillips, the company's board chairman, in a statement.
McDougall previously was an executive with Cinnabon and NexCen Brands Inc., parent of Marble Slab Creamery, Great American Cookie and Pretzel Maker. He replaces James Boyd Jr. as Back Yard's top executive.
