A Knoxville doctor and UT physician is this year's Sports Medicine Person of the Year.
The Tennessee Athletic Trainer's Society awarded Dr. Chris Klenck the honor. He is UT's head team physician and works will all the men's and women's teams.
The organization says Klenck made extraordinary contributions to sports medicine and helped influence the athletic training profession.
We spoke with Dr. Klenck who said getting the award was an honor.
"The Tennessee Athletic Trainers' Association organization, it's filled with tons of members, of very talented athletic trainers who devote lots of time and hours and commitment to taking care of student athletes and don't often get recognition for what they do. So that was really special to me," he said.
Dr. Klenck says his job never ends. When one season ends, he has to gear up for the next one.
