Since some people may not be able to make it to work Friday, we wondered what about those who care for animals?

At Young-Williams Animal Center, staffers will give all the animals extra food and water Thursday night. If there is no ice storm, all staff will be required to come in early to clean up and feed the animals. However, if conditions are bad, a few employees have been designated to come in and care for the pets.

Young-Williams says with these conditions, everyone needs to be aware of keeping pets safe.

"Just be sure to bring your animals in tonight; it's gonna be awfully cold and make sure they have food and water," said Amy Johnson.

As for the Knoxville Zoo, a spokesperson says rangers are always at the zoo overnight, but there is a weather plan in place. And, as with the Animal Center, some essential staff will still come in to help care for the animal population.
