Anderson County

Update 1:00 p.m. TDOT- Rain. Patches of ice. Roads being treated . Temps 20's

Bell County

Dispatchers say there is no sign of ice but the roads are extremely slick.  They have not had any major wrecks.

Blount County

Update 1:00 p.m. TDOT- Freezing Rain ALL ROADS ICY USE EXTREME CAUTION .

Update 11:00 a.m. TDOT-  Freezing Rain ALL ROADS ICY USE EXTREME CAUTION . SR 73 log mile 20 to county line use caution. Several Wrecks. Dispatchers say there are slick roads, however there have only been two fender benders.  Blount County dispatchers say there is a salt truck off the road on Highway 321 at Walland Gap. 

Claiborne County

Update 1:00 p.m. TDOT- Roads slick. Pushing ice and treating . SR 90 log mile 0.5 Road closed due to slide .

Cocke County

Update 1:00 p.m. TDOT- Rain. SR 32  log mile 0-11 extreme caution . icy . Has been treated. Temps 20's

Dispatchers are not reporting any problems.

Cumberland County

 

Dispatchers say the roads are slick and people are having trouble with their driveways.As rain begins to fall on already frozen surfaces, roads are beginning to ice up across East Tennessee.

Grainger County

Greene County

Update 1:00 p.m. TDOT- Rain . All routes slick use extreme caution icy. Temps 20's . Crews Out

Update 11:00 a.m. TDOT Freezing Rain . All routes slick use extreme caution icy. Temps 20's . Crews Out  TDOT reporting extremely hazardous winter road conditions reported. Travel is not recommended on state routes and interstates.

Dispatchers report icy roads.  Cars are sliding there, but no major wrecks have been reported.

Fentress County

Most county roads are very slick, some state roads are beginning to ice over.  There are no current reports of trees or power lines down. Dispatchers do have some reports of vehicles that slid off the roads. Authorities are asking people if they don't have to be out, to please stay home.

Hamblen

Update 1:00 p.m. TDOT- Wintery mix. Roads icy . are being treated .Temps 20's to 30's

Update 11:00  a.m. TDOT Wintery mix. Roads icy . are being treated. Dispatchers say roads are iced over area on East Morris Blvd. (between Larry Baker & Dover) They say that it is really bad there and they will try to close it at Dover if they can get there safely.  Morristown police department has enacted its severe weather plan.  That means officers will not respond to non-major wrecks- only when their are life-threatening events. Hamblen County is operating on the same plan.

Hancock

Harlan Co., KY

Dispatchers say that inside the city limites the roads are slick but should be okay. Authorities advise using caution.

Jefferson County

Update 1:00 p.m. TDOT- All Roads icy . Crews treating roads. Numerous wrecks . Use extreme caution .Temps 20's

TDOT says roads in Jefferson Co. are very hazardous, and advice people not to travel.

Dispatchers say roads are iced over and they have had a few minor accidents.  There was an additional accident on the 417 on-ramp that TDOT worked but is now clear.

Knox County

Update 1:00 p.m. TDOT- FREEZING RAIN. ROADS ICY. USE EXTREME CAUTION. CREWS STILL SALTING . TEMPS. MID 20'S
SR 115 (Alcoa Hwy) log mile 3.6 -4.0 northbound one lane closed due to rock slide.  

Update 12:07 a.m. KAT will be upgrading from snow routes to regular routing at 12:15 p.m.; we will continue to update you if this status changes.

Update 10:05 a.m. Rescue crews are working to rescue a THP trooper who was injured in an accident on Longmire and Emory Rd. Dispatchers say there are some wrecks.  There is an accident with injury at Old Weisgarber and Lonas. A truck was reported upside down on Emory at Harvest Creek around the 1000 block.  There were no injuries in the wreck.  The county is on a snow plan. The City of Knoxville is still responding to all of their calls. There will be no Animal Control services today.

Loudon County

Update 1:00 p.m. TDOT- No precipitation. Roads Wet. Temps high 20's

Dispatchers could not be reached.

McMinn County

Dispatchers say roads are wet.  A dispatcher who had just been driving said there had been no freezing rain so far.

Monroe County

Update 1:00 p.m. TDOT- Light Rain  Roads wet. Temps high 20's.

Dispatchers say roads are pretty good as far they know.  There have been no reported accidents.

Morgan County

Update 1:00 p.m. TDOT- Light rain. Roads wet .  Upper part of SR 116 toward the Anderson County line Hazardous. SR29 from Morgan to Scott is Hazardous. Being treated with calcium chloride and salt.

(From Morgan County E-911 page) The road conditions are not getting any better at this time. We have two accidents right now on Hwy 27 both around the Pilot Mtn. area. Please stay off the roads, they are iced over in the majority of the county. Once again PLEASE STAY OFF THE ROADS.

Dispatchers say everything quiet. They have had reports of slick roads and a few minor accidents but nothing major.

Scott County

Dispatchers say roads are slick.  The back roads are extremely slick and are a solid sheet of ice. They have handled several minor accidents without injuries. They emphasized the backroads are extremely bad.

Previous story

Dispatchers in Anderson, Claiborne, Cumberland, Scott County say the backroads are getting very slick but the main roads are ok at this point.  There have been no major accidents.  

Around six o'clock, Campbell County dispatch says that I-75 at the 153-154 mile marker is getting icy.

Authorities are advising drivers to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary.

Many school systems and colleges have cancelled or delayed classes Friday.  The University of Tennessee is opening two hours late. For a full list click here.
