Hundreds of salt and brine trucks are out on East Tennessee's roads, trying to make them safe for drivers.
But sometimes, those slick conditions are too much even for them.
Friday morning, a TDOT salt truck slid off the road and onto its side on Highway 321 in Blount County.
TDOT spokesperson Mark Nagi says the truck is totaled, but there are no serious injuries.
Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett was involved in one of two accidents involving county crews.
The mayor was riding along with a county road crew in a salt truck. The accident happened on Tarwater Road in South Knox County.
He tweeted a picture of the accident, and said "Thank you God for putting that Sycamore tree there 75 years ago or we would be talking to mayor tony Norman" and "No one hurt in either Knox Co. Highway truck incident. This is what these guys risk for our safety. Thank a public works worker."
