Frontier Airlines is flying back into Knoxville.
The Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority announced today Frontier Airlines will resume flights between McGhee Tyson Airport and Denver International Airport beginning on May 17.
The airline officers travelers lower fares to certain western destinations. Frontier's hub in Denver International Airport offers connections to and from popular cities including Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Seattle, San Francisco among others.
The flight schedule for returning service:
Departs Knoxville for Denver
Departs at 11:20 a.m.
Arrives in Denver at 4:06 p.m.
Departs Denver for Knoxville
Departs at 5:59 p.m.
Arrives in Knoxville at 7:00 p.m.
(July 31, 2012) Low-cost air carrier Frontier Airlines plans to adjust its schedule for flights between Knoxville and Denver, starting in December.
Frontier has fewer passengers during the cold weather months, according to a spokesperson for McGhee Tyson Airport, and they plan to adjust their schedule accordingly.
The airline will begin tapering its Denver flights this fall and stop them altogether on Dec. 9. Airport officials believe Frontier plans to resume those flights in the spring, when the demand rises again.
Frontier Airlines currently offers flights between Knoxville and Denver and Knoxville and Orlando, Fla. The Orlando flights will continue without disruption.
United Airlines will continue to offer a direct flight from Knoxville to Denver.
