U.S. Congressman Chuck Fleischmann
U.S. Congressman Chuck Fleischmann spent Tuesday listening to new constituents, in counties that were recently added to his district.
That includes Scott County where he held a round table discussion with local leaders.
Representative Fleischmann focused on two things: Scott County roads and job creation.
A key factor for jobs is the re-opening of the areas only hospital, which closed last May. A deadline to cut a deal is set for Thursday.
10News asked Rep. Fleischmann about the deal. He said there's not much he can do at this point to help.
"Right now, the issues are local and state so we can't help yet, but I told them that when they get to the point that they need my assistance, it's a full court press. I'm all in to help," said Rep. Fleischmann.
Hospital operator SM Promen and the county have until Thursday to reach a deal.
Last week at a commission meeting, SM Promen said it still needs $3-million dollars from investors before it can re-open the facility.
If a deal collapses, SM Promen and Scott County can walk away from the agreement, which would put Scott County back at square one with an empty hospital.
