An old vacuum shop in North Knoxville has been transformed into an art studio, and on Friday night artists held its grand opening.
Eight artists have divided space up in "Vacuum Shop" on Broadway, so they can each have their own studio. They've kept the store-front's original name to keep the building's history intact.
While the studio is not a commercial business, the artists said they hoped Friday's event would introduce their artwork to the community.
The artists hope to have another public event in a couple months. Sometime in the future, the group hopes to open up a public gallery.
