Hawkins County Sheriff's Office is searching for a female suspect accused of burglarizing an elderly woman earlier this week.
According to a press release, the aggravated burglary and armed robbery happened in a home on Highway 66 South, Bulls Gap Friday.
An 86-year old woman called 911 and said there was a suspicious vehicle outside her home. While she was on the phone with deputies, she heard a noise, laid down the phone and began screaming at someone.
When deputies arrived at her residence, they found that someone forced her front door open and discovered a metal wrench on the bathroom floor.
Apparently a woman busted the glass on her front door, reached through, unlocked the door and entered her house. The unknown suspect told the victim she wasn't going to hurt her, but demanded money.
The victim said the suspect pulled her through the hallway into the kitchen, but the victim pulled out a pistol and tried to shoot her. The suspect tried to take the pistol away, but the weapon fired and missed the attacker. The female suspect stole the pistol and the victim's purse and drove off in a red car.
The elderly woman suffered a minor injury to her right hand, but denied any medical attention.
Anyone with any information about this case is asked to call the Hawkins County Sheriff's Office at 423-272-4848.
