A former TVA vice president is accused of financial crimes involving Iran.
Masoud Bajestani has been indicted for unlawful investments in Iran. He's also accused of lying to TVA officials in order to withdraw more than $1 million from his TVA compensation account.
The 57-year-old pleaded not guilty Monday.
During his time with TVA, he served as vice president at the Watts Bar Unit II nuclear power plant during its construction phase.
It's illegal to make any kind of investments in Iran because the U.S. has sanctions in place against the country.
