The Tennessee Highway Patrol says a 17-year-old Harrogate teen was killed when he lost control of his truck on a snowy and icy road Monday night.

According to the THP report, 17-year-old Ryan L. Marcum was negotiating a right curve in his 1988 Chevy CK1 truck north on Big Union Springs Rd. in Claiborne County around 6:00 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle.

The THP report says the road was snowy and icy.

The truck went off the left side of the road and rolled over several times.   The truck landed on the driver's side on Marcum after he was partially ejected.

The passenger, 17-year-old Jacob A. Ayers, also of Harrogate, was injured.

Neither Marcum or Ayers were wearing seat belts.

The investigating trooper believes seat belts would have made a difference in the wreck.

The THP is expecting to release another report on the accident.
