University of Tennessee students could soon pay more for public transportation in Knoxville.

Knoxville Area Transit is proposing a fare change that would eliminate the UT semester pass. Currently it costs $50 for a 140 day pass for UT students, staff and faculty.

KAT now wants to introduce a new semester pass for students, which would be $130 for 130 days.

Knoxville Transportation Authority will have a public hearing on the changes later this month. The board will vote after that hearing. If approved, those changes would take affect this summer.
