In Hawkins County, some are facing charges after selling beer to minors during a major undercover operation.

Hawkins County Sheriff Ronnie Lawson says the Alcoholic Beverage Commission came to him asking for help to see if stores were selling beer illegally. Lawson says 17 store clerks in Hawkins County were cited for doing just that.

The reports show the undercover officers bought beer and clerks either did not ask for an ID or didn't enforce the birth date.

"The investigation is not really to cause the business any problems. We just want to make the public and the business aware that underage selling beer and matters is illegal," said Lawson.

Records show a number of stores in Rogersville were also busted selling to underage people.
