Tennessee based FedEx has pulled out of a national business conference after a former death row inmate was asked to speak.
FedEx is headquartered in Memphis and planned to sponsor an event this weekend in the city. But, at the last minute, the company withdrew sponsorship after organizers announced Daniel Echols would take part in a talk about how the world has changed since he was sent to prison.
Echols is one of the so-called "West Memphis Three." The men were convicted of killing three Cub Scouts in Arkansas back in 1993.
In 2011 their lawyers introduced new DNA evidence and the men entered new pleas that allowed them to maintain their innocence but acknowledge prosecutors had enough evidence to convict them. All three men were freed.
