There's now a legislative threat to a planned body farm at Carson-Newman College.
In October, Carson-Newman announced it plans to add a cadaver site as part of its new forensics program. Jefferson County commissioners have approved re-zoning land for the program.
Thursday, Senator Frank Niceley of Strawberry Plains filed a bill that prevents any new body farms until the state passes rules and regulations to oversee them.
Body farms present before January 1 would not be affected under the measure.
