A Knox County group is honoring the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy in a unique way.

On Friday,  the Fountain City Lions Club planted 26 trees at the Fountain City Lake to honor the victims.

Mark Smithson, who owns Eastgate Landscaping donated 20 cherry trees and six blue spruces, one tree for every victim.

You can expect to really notice the trees come spring time.

"They are absolutely gorgeous during the spring, solid white blooms, and I think the citizens of Knox County, especially Fountain City, will love the the addition to the lake," said Dick McMillan of the Fountain City Lions Club

The cherry trees aren't expected to get much bigger, and the spruces should grow straight up so you shouldn't have to worry about them blocking the view of the lake.
