An East Tennessee hospital is being recognized for its focus on stroke care.
Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center was awarded a comprehensive stoke center certification. That award comes from the Joint Commission and the American Heart Association.
The certification goes to hospitals with the ability to treat patients with complex strokes. Some of the requirements include advanced imaging capabilities and specialized treatments that are available 24-7.
The hospital says it demonstrates its commitment to patient care.
Fort Sanders is one of only two Tennessee hospitals to receive this designation, and the only one in East Tennessee.
