The Salvation Army is saying 'thank you' to the community at to Kroger for a big donation.
Tuesday, Kroger presented a check for $7,400 to the Salvation Army for its Angel Tree program. The money comes from customers who donated money at Kroger's 19 stores in East Tennessee.
Money raised from the Angel Tree program helps pay for gifts and food baskets for families in need.
"Anytime that we can give back to our community in different avenues we think that's something that we're expected to do and we see it as a privilege to do just that," said Special Events Coordinator Stephanie Turner.
Since 1979, the Angel Tree program has helped thousands of families.
