The Salvation Army got a boost Wednesday from some generous East Tennesseans.

Pilot Flying J gave a check for $42,500 to the Knoxville-area Salvation Army office. The money came from the sale of paper red kettles at area Pilot food mart stores during the holiday season.

This year's fundraising effort brought in $7,000 more than last year's total.
