On Friday, Knoxville leaders got an update on the city's financial state.
Mayor Madeline Rogero hosted a retreat today to discuss the city's semi-annual report.
The city's finance director reported that the projections for the current fiscal year are on track as of December 31.
Mayor Rogero says as always, the city will continue to look for ways to be more efficient and save money as it goes about operations.
"What we're doing today is really taking a look at where we are. But then I'll also have a discussion with the council about where we want to go. Because this is really the beginning of the new year's budget process," said Mayor Rogero.
Mayor Rogero says there are positive signs that the city's economy is making gains after the recession, but there is still progress to be made.
The budget for the next fiscal year will be submitted on April 26.
