Three people are safe Saturday after rescue crews said they got lost in Anderson County.
According to Anderson County Rescue Chief Terry Allen, a grandfather, father and son from the "Frost Bottom area" went missing about 4:00 p.m. Friday. They went out on a ride on their ATV and got lost in Windrock Park.
Anderson County Rescue Squad and a several volunteer fire departments began the search Friday night. Nearly 100 people, some on ATVs, continued the search Saturday morning.
Search teams found the missing people near the Windrock ATV Lodge, which is the site of an ATV race happening this weekend. The rescue squad said the three people spent a cold night in the dark.
Brent Galloway, the General Manager of Coal Creek Mining and Manufacturing Company, said he's relieved rescuers found the missing people safe and sound.
"Anytime we hear of a mishap on the trails, it's of great concern to us," said Galloway. "The Anderson County Rescue Squad and a couple of volunteer fire departments came out and spend a lot of time last night looking. They out first thing this morning, and we're thankful the people were safe and sound."
Rescue crews said they may have had slight hypothermia, but all three refused hospital care.
