The Department of Safety and Homeland Security said an investigation into Trooper Michael Toby Cameron discovered that he filed an inaccurate and misleading report.

While patrolling in Grainger County in December, Cameron said a suspect was leaving a convenient store on Rutledge Pike when he stared at the trooper and allegedly blocked the trooper from leaving.

Cameron said he felt threatened by the suspect, but surveillance video of the incident told otherwise.

The internal investigations unit said Cameron filed a false report based on the video and suspended him for five days without pay. Cameron has already served his punishment and is back on the job.
