Folks enjoyed live music and poetry readings at the Knoxville Visitor Center on Monday. It's all part of Tennessee Shines, a live, weekly radio show on WDVX-FM.
The entertainment Monday was singer Dylan Sneed, and former Channel 10 news anchor Edye Ellis read poetry. She was Bill Williams' co-anchor for 10 years.
Ellis says she enjoys haiku and hopes her reading will bring more people to poetry.
"Poetry is just very, very dear to me, and I think that you can say things in a poem that sometimes you can't say in a conversation," she said.
Ellis wrote a book of poems with her mother several years ago called "Pages."
